Today is Detox Day 9 of my Core Values Detox Plus experience – in the home stretch. I would absolutely love to tell you that I’ve been 100% faithful to the detox. But I can’t because: Life Happens. Getting out on the weekends, running around, going out to dinner. It gets challenging. But that’s okay. I’m still down 4 pounds that I didn’t even for sure expect. And you can’t beat yourself up, right?
There’s still one day left. I haven’t mentioned it yet, but exercise is encouraged as part of this detox. Or you can call it play or workout or physical activity or anything you want. The point is that sweating is an excellent way to detox. I’m not one to join local gyms for a number of reasons. So I do most of my workouts at home. I love to walk, when the weather cooperates. It isn’t the rain that I have to worry about, just that it is often very hot here in South Texas.
So I know some people reading this are still thinking: “Not me, there’s no way I can do a detox.” “I’m too busy with kids.” “I have this disease or that disease.” “I’ll be traveling.” “I don’t want to be deprived.” OR, my favorite: “What if I find that I shouldn’t be eating my favorite food? I would rather not know.”
Choose Your Own Adventure! I was an adult when those books came out. I was so jealous that I didn’t get to experience them as a kid. What fun it was to read the books of my nieces and nephews. So many possibilities. I’m sure if I had read them as a kid I would have read them and chosen all the various paths just to see what happened.
So often people think of a detox as deprivation, boring food, and cooking all the time. Not on my watch! Not only that, but Core Values Detox Plus even has room for dining out. After all, who can really go ten days eating all their meals at home? Myself? I’m often out at lunch time for business. Plus, even though I love to cook, there are times when I just don’t want to do it. I thought I would let you know how I manage dining out during a detox.
Today is Core Values Detox Day 3. The photo to the right is actually from last night’s dinner. You’re looking at Lentil Millet Burgers served with avocado and tomato slices. Delicious. And yes, this recipe is also included in the Core Values Detox Plus recipe packet. So if you sign up then you will also have this recipe.
An interesting thing I found this morning, I’ve lost another pound. I don’t typically consider that to be anything because I have found my weight fluctuates day to day. But I’m seeing numbers I haven’t seen in a couple of years so I consider it a win!
Here in my personal world, it is day 2 of my whole food detox – Core Values Detox Plus. There’s not a lot to report right now. I am actually down 1 pound. Could it be the detox? Too early to tell.
Lunch today, pictured above, was especially yummy. It was an Italian Chickpea Salad. I put it on a bed of spinach and surrounded it with tomato slices from the farmers market. And yes, that recipe is one that is included in the recipe packet of Core Values Detox Plus.
Today was the kick off for my very own, personal, only me, Core Values Detox Plus. Well, truth be told, my hubby is kind of on it since I plan and prepare the meals. But he still gets his coffee and his occasional dairy. Plus no telling what he has while at work!
Speaking of coffee, I thought that might be the hard part for me. It was back in May. But so far I’m okay without it. It’s 9:30 at night and I’m feeling very tired. I wonder if that’s normal for me and the caffeine has been masking it? That’s only a guess.
In the words of John Lennon: “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” In my post on Friday, I said that I would begin posting about my personal Core Values Detox Plus journey beginning on Sunday, 09/01/2013.
Unfortunately, due to illness in my family, I am having to postpone that detox for a week. Between doctors and emergency room visits, there just hasn’t been time to devote to the detox. But, have no fear, everything should be more settled and I will begin the detox on Sunday, 09/08/2013!
Beginning this Sunday, September 1, 2013, I will be doing my Core Values Detox Plus and blogging about it daily. It’s the same detox that I’ll be leading in October.
What is Core Values Detox Plus? Core Values Detox’s first focus is on digestion. That’s because proper digestion is the first key to optimal health. You see, it’s not just about what you eat. It’s really about what your body can do with what you eat. And that’s controlled by digestion. So we first focus on optimizing digestion.
