This week, I received an email that nearly had me in tears. A woman was writing to say that she became ill after having new granite installed in her kitchen. To add insult to injury, many people, doctors included, suggested that it was all in her head. I wrote back to reassure her, first off, that it was not in her head. And it’s likely that she could benefit from a liver detox.
I can empathize, I’ve been there. And that’s what has brought me to where I am today. I want to understand this illness of chemical sensitivity. What is its cause? Where did it come from? How can people overcome it.
And my favorite question – Why? Why is this happening to me? Or to you?
Like most things in life, especially when it comes to health, there isn’t a single answer. But there are solutions. And the more I learn, the more answers I see.
You see, humans are complex beings. It’s rare that there is a simple solution for our ailments. I thought I had all the answers for myself, but have discovered more this year. And now I expect that I will continue to learn more and more.
Some things I do know: This woman’s reaction to her granite and the glue probably wasn’t the first toxic exposure. More likely it was the tipping point. That first domino that is flicked with a finger. That first card pulled from the house of cards.
I had my tipping point back in 2001. I believe there were a number of factors – all seemingly unrelated. But a large part of the problem is toxins that build up in our body over time. And eventually, our body can no longer handle them. It’s the job of our liver to get rid of the toxins in our body. But it can become overwhelmed. Especially in today’s world. There are so many toxins in our world today. It’s hard to avoid them.
And so the solution is two-fold. First, to avoid those things that trigger our symptoms. Curiously, not all of them are toxins. And second, is to work to detox the body and especially a liver detox. A detox will give our body the tools it needs to rid itself of the toxins that have been piling up for years. For myself, I’m exploring a liver detox specifically designed to remove chemical toxins that are stored in our fat cells. I’ll be introducing it as part of a detox I’ll be offering in October.
